Which jobs need CALIBER Assist
- CALIBER applies for you Greenhouse and Lever postings. Approve the job in your tracker, press Apply with CALIBER, review, and CALIBER submits it. No extension needed.
- Apply with CALIBER Assist Indeed, USAJobs, LinkedIn, Workday, Ashby and every other site. Open the posting from your tracker (Apply on Site), sign in to that site if it asks, and press Fill with CALIBER. Assist fills the form from your profile, saved answers and resume; you check it and submit.
- USAJobs: you sign in with login.gov and apply on USAJobs' own pages. Assist fills the text questions; documents and the agency questionnaire stay with you.
- Applied somewhere without Assist? Press Mark applied on the row so it moves to My applications.
CALIBER Assist is included with Plus and Pro
The CALIBER Assist browser extension fills Indeed, USAJobs, Workday and other employer sites from your profile in your own browser. It comes with CALIBER Plus and CALIBER Pro; your current plan does not include it. You can still open those postings, apply on the employer's site and press Mark applied.
CALIBER Assist
Included with your plan. The browser extension fills Indeed, USAJobs, Workday and other employer sites from your profile, saved answers and resume, in your own browser. You review and submit.
Desktop only: Chrome, Edge or Brave on a Windows or Mac computer (Firefox for now only as a temporary add-on, see its tab below). Safari isn't supported yet. Phones and tablets can't run browser extensions.
Install it
Pick your browser. The one you are using now is already selected.
Easiest: install it from the Chrome Web Store. A store copy updates by itself. Add to Chrome
Or install a downloaded copy with the steps below.
- Download it. (the same file as the button at the top).
- Find the file and unzip it. It lands in your Downloads folder as
caliber-assist.zip. On Windows, right-click it and choose Extract All…, then Extract; on a Mac, double-click it. You get a folder namedcaliber-assistwithmanifest.jsoninside. Keep that folder somewhere you won't delete it (for example Documents): Chrome runs Assist from it. - Add it to Chrome. Paste
chrome://extensionsinto the address bar and press Enter. Turn on Developer mode: the switch is in the top-right corner of the extensions page. Then click Load unpacked and choose thecaliber-assistfolder, the one that containsmanifest.json(pick the folder, not the zip). - Pin it to the toolbar. Click the puzzle-piece icon next to the address bar, then the pin next to CALIBER Assist, so its icon stays on the toolbar.
- Connect it to CALIBER. Click the CALIBER Assist icon. If it says it is not connected, refresh this dashboard while you are signed in: Assist picks up your sign-in from here.
- Check that it works. Refresh this page: the status at the top of this section says Installed. Then open a job from your job matches with Apply on Site: a Fill with CALIBER button shows on the employer's page.
- Keep it updated. When the status here says Update needed (the toolbar icon shows a red ! too), follow Update it below. A downloaded copy does not update by itself.
Firefox can only load Assist temporarily for now: Firefox removes it every time it restarts, until CALIBER Assist is listed on Firefox Add-ons. For everyday use we recommend Chrome or Edge.
- Download the Firefox version.
- Find the file. It lands in your Downloads folder as
caliber-assist-firefox.zip. Firefox reads the zip as it is: no need to unzip it. - Load it in Firefox. Paste
about:debugginginto the address bar and press Enter, then click This Firefox on the left. Click Load Temporary Add-on… and choosecaliber-assist-firefox.zip(or, if you unzipped it, themanifest.jsonfile inside the folder). - Pin it to the toolbar. Click the puzzle-piece (Extensions) button on the toolbar, then the gear next to CALIBER Assist and Pin to Toolbar.
- Connect it to CALIBER. Click the CALIBER Assist icon. If it says it is not connected, refresh this dashboard while you are signed in.
- Check that it works. Refresh this page: the status at the top of this section says Installed. Open a job with Apply on Site and click Fill with CALIBER on the employer's page.
- After a restart, and to update. Firefox forgets Assist when it restarts: repeat step 3. For a new version, follow Update it below.
Safari isn't supported yet. CALIBER Assist runs in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave or Firefox on a Windows or Mac computer. Open your CALIBER dashboard in one of them and follow its tab above. In Safari you can still open a posting, apply on the employer's site and press Mark applied on the row.
Update it
The status above says Update needed when a newer version is out (the toolbar icon shows a red ! too). A downloaded copy does not update by itself:
- Download it again with the button above.
- Replace the old folder: delete the old
caliber-assistfolder, then unzip the new zip in the same place so the new folder has the same name. On a Mac, don't unzip on top of the old folder (that makes a second folder,caliber-assist 2). - Open
chrome://extensionsand click the round reload arrow on the CALIBER Assist card. Its version number changes. - Refresh this dashboard and any job pages you have open. If the version did not change, press Remove on the card and Load unpacked the new folder.
- Download it again with Download for Firefox in the Firefox steps above (
caliber-assist-firefox.zip). - Open
about:debuggingand click This Firefox. On the CALIBER Assist card press Remove. - Click Load Temporary Add-on… and choose the new
caliber-assist-firefox.zip. If Firefox saved it with a number in the name, pick that newest file. - Refresh this dashboard and any job pages you have open.
Troubleshooting
- Load unpacked is greyed out or missing
- Developer mode is off. Switch it on: the switch is in the top-right corner of the extensions page.
- "Manifest file is missing or unreadable"
- You picked the zip or the wrong folder. Unzip first, then choose the folder that has
manifest.jsondirectly inside it (not the one above it, not a file). - I can't find the downloaded file
- Open your browser's downloads list (Ctrl+J on Windows, or the downloads arrow on a Mac) and click Show in folder.
- The "Fill with CALIBER" button doesn't show on a job page
- Refresh the job page: a browser adds an extension only to pages opened after it was installed or reloaded. If it still doesn't appear, that site's form isn't supported yet: apply there yourself and press Mark applied on the row.
- Assist says you are signed out or not connected
- Click the CALIBER Assist icon to open its popup and sign in, or refresh this dashboard in the same browser while you are signed in.
- The status here says "Not installed" but it is
- Check that CALIBER Assist is switched on in the extensions page, then refresh this dashboard.
- CALIBER Assist is gone after restarting Firefox
- That is expected for a temporary add-on: open
about:debugging, click This Firefox and Load Temporary Add-on… again. - Firefox says the add-on could not be installed
- Pick
caliber-assist-firefox.zipfrom Download for Firefox (the Chrome download does not load in Firefox), or themanifest.jsonfile inside the unzipped folder. - The "Fill with CALIBER" button doesn't show on a job page
- Refresh the job page: Firefox adds an add-on only to pages opened after it was loaded. If it still doesn't appear, that site's form isn't supported yet: apply there yourself and press Mark applied on the row.
